Matthew T. Frick is Running with a Purpose
I began running almost two years ago. I was inspired by two friends who were already runners, one of whom is a cancer survivor and the other a fellow alum and fellow Chicago Marathoner. They inspired me to run for my own health and wellness as well as fellowship and enjoyment in God's creation. These individuals continue to inspire for their commitment to the Lord and their commitment to their individual health and wellness. Running provides me the opportunity to fellowship with them while strengthening my mind, body, and spirit.
Concordia University Chicago is important to me because it taught me to use the gifts God has given me. I continue to support Concordia because it is an ever-increasingly important outpost for training Godly leaders. Having attended Concordia, and having treasured my time there, it is important to me that this valuable institution continues to thrive. Running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (my first marathon) affords me the opportunity to serve God and give Him thanks and praise for the benefits He has given to me through my fellow runners and through the remarkable experience that is Concordia University.
